AIStatements

Cube Alternative That Produces the Statement Pack, Not the Planning Model

Cube is a spreadsheet-native FP&A platform for consolidation, planning and forecasting, sold on a quote-only basis across its Bronze, Silver and Gold tiers. AIStatements is narrower and cheaper: it takes a CSV, trial balance or QuickBooks export and returns a formatted, tied-out three-statement pack with plain-English analysis in about a minute.

Cube is an FP&A platform priced by quote. AIStatements is a statement generator with published plans: upload a bookkeeping export and get a formatted, tied-out P&L, balance sheet and cash flow with written analysis.

What Cube Software actually does

Cube is a financial planning and analysis platform built around the spreadsheet rather than against it. Finance teams keep modeling in Excel or Google Sheets, and Cube sits underneath as the system of record: it pulls actuals from the accounting system, consolidates entities, pushes numbers back into the sheet you already built, and keeps the two in sync. On top of that it layers dashboards, workflow automation and, as of 2026, a set of AI agents across data management, analysis, planning and reporting.

Its integration list runs well past accounting: CRM, HR and payroll, payments, and data and BI tools all connect, which tells you who it is built for. Cube is aimed at a finance team that owns a planning process, not at a bookkeeper who needs a client deliverable on the 5th of the month. For that team it is a serious product and this page does not argue otherwise.

Pricing is the part buyers notice first. Checked on 23 August 2026, Cube publishes three tiers, Bronze, Silver and Gold, with no price on any of them. Bronze covers full platform access with unlimited users, dimensions and dashboards. Silver adds Slack and Teams integration, workflow automation, PowerPoint and Slides export and MCP integration. Gold adds premium support and the full integration set. Premium Support Plus, extra modules and API access are separate add-ons. Every tier is quote-only, so the number depends on the conversation you have with sales.

Why people shop for a Cube alternative

The most common reason is scope. An FP&A platform is priced and implemented as a platform: a contract, an onboarding period, a data model somebody owns. If the actual recurring job is producing three statements each month that a lender, a board or a client can read, you are buying a planning system to use one corner of it.

The second is the quote wall. Teams comparing options on a budget cannot rank a tool whose price appears only after a discovery call, and by then two weeks have gone. That is why the table further down this page carries real figures for every tool we could verify, including the ones that beat us on price.

The third is the input. Cube is strongest when it is wired continuously into your accounting system and your model. If your data arrives as a client trial balance, a CSV out of a system nobody integrates with, or books you only touch at quarter end, a connection-first platform adds friction rather than removing it. AIStatements starts from a file, so anything that exports works, including a spreadsheet somebody maintains by hand.

What AIStatements does differently

One upload produces the whole pack. AIStatements maps the accounts, builds the income statement, carries net income into equity on the balance sheet, derives the cash flow statement from the movement between periods, and runs three tie-out checks before it returns anything: net income agrees across statements, assets equal liabilities plus equity, and ending cash agrees with the balance sheet. What comes back is a document you can send, not a model somebody has to maintain.

It also writes the read. Margin movement, expense lines growing faster than revenue, working capital drift, anything that looks like a posting error, all summarized in plain English. That is the same engine behind our financial statement analysis software, and it is the paragraph that usually costs an accountant twenty minutes.

What it deliberately does not do: forecasting, budget versus actual, driver-based modeling, multi-entity consolidation or a live planning workspace. Those are Cube's job, and if planning is the reason you are shopping then a planning platform is the honest answer. Our Jirav comparison covers the budgeting and forecasting end of the market, and the LiveFlow comparison covers live spreadsheet reporting.

The pricing picture across this category, verified August 2026

Half of this category does not publish a price, and the half that does is spread across three currencies, which makes an honest comparison harder than it should be. Every figure in the table below was read off the vendor's own pricing page on 23 August 2026, and where a vendor quotes in Australian or New Zealand dollars we have left it in that currency rather than converting at a rate that will be wrong next month.

Two figures moved enough to be worth calling out. Jirav, which used to sit at the enterprise end of this market, now lists Controller Essentials from $50 a month and CFO Enterprise from $150. Syft, which spent part of 2026 without a public pricing page at all, publishes again: Standard $23, Plus $47, Advanced $95 per month, with a free Basic tier, and GAAP and IFRS financial statements available from Plus upward rather than on the entry plan.

Our own plans sit on the pricing page: Starter $39, Growth $99 and Firm $289 per month billed yearly, published with no call required.

Which one fits the job you actually have

The question that settles it is what you send when the month closes. If the deliverable is a plan, a re-forecast or a variance conversation against a budget somebody built, that is FP&A, and Cube, Jirav or a spreadsheet-native platform is where the money should go. If the deliverable is a PDF that a lender, a board, a buyer or a client reads, that is statement preparation, and an FP&A subscription is doing far less work than it costs.

Firms with both audiences run both, and split them cleanly: the planning platform serves the internal finance conversation, the statement generator produces the external documents. For multi-client workflow specifically, software for accounting firms covers how the client roster and review flow work, and financial statement drafting software covers the preparation sequence in detail. If you are still mapping the category, financial reporting software compared puts all nine tools side by side.

One honest boundary on the whole comparison: AIStatements is software that formats and analyzes your data. It is not accounting, audit or tax advice, and it does not certify GAAP or IFRS compliance. Have a licensed professional review anything you file.

Common questions

What is the best Cube Software alternative?

It depends which half of Cube you use. For planning, budgeting and forecasting, Jirav is the closest like-for-like tool with a published price, from $50 a month. For producing formatted, tied-out financial statements from an export, AIStatements is the alternative: it generates the P&L, balance sheet and cash flow with written analysis in about a minute, with no live accounting connection required.

How much does Cube Software cost?

Cube does not publish prices. Checked on 23 August 2026, all three tiers, Bronze, Silver and Gold, are quote-only, with Premium Support Plus, additional modules and API access sold as separate add-ons. You get a figure by booking a demo. For comparison, Syft publishes from $23 a month, Jirav from $50 and Reach Reporting from $149.

Does AIStatements replace an FP&A platform?

No, and it is not trying to. AIStatements prepares historical financial statements from data you already have: it does not forecast, model drivers, run budget versus actual or consolidate entities. If a planning process is what you are buying, an FP&A platform is the right purchase. If the monthly output is a statement pack somebody outside the company reads, the platform is oversized for the job.
