Booke AI Alternative and Booke AI Competitors for Bookkeeping Firms Pricing Per Client
The main Booke AI alternatives are Double (from $10 per client a month), Xenett for close review ($7.50 per client a month), Digits as an AI ledger ($65 a month per business), Dext for receipt capture, and the AI tools now built into QuickBooks Online and Xero. Booke lists $129 per business a month and quotes accounting firms by request, read from booke.ai/en-us/pricing on 2 October 2026. If the categorization is fine and the gap is the client reporting pack, AIStatements turns each client's trial balance export into a tied P&L, balance sheet and cash flow with commentary, 25 clients for $174 a month billed yearly.
Booke AI categorizes bank transactions and chases missing documents inside QuickBooks Online, Xero and Zoho Books. It does not build the monthly P&L, balance sheet and cash flow your clients actually read, and its list price is per business. Here is what else firms buy, what each costs per client, and where AIStatements fits.

What Booke AI does and what it leaves to you
Booke AI sits on top of an existing ledger. It categorizes the daily bank feed, matches bills and receipts to transactions with OCR, reconciles accounts, and sends clients a query when a transaction needs an explanation. Exceptions go to a review queue with an audit trail. Firms get multi-client management, a performance dashboard and a white-label client experience on the firm tier.
That covers the front half of monthly bookkeeping: getting transactions into the right accounts. It stops short of the deliverable. Booke lists interactive reports, but the formatted monthly pack a client takes to a lender or a board, with a tied cash flow statement, ratios and a paragraph on what changed, is still built by a person, usually a senior bookkeeper in Excel the week after close.
So the first question is which half of the month hurts. If staff spend their hours on uncategorized transactions and missing receipts, you are shopping for a categorization tool and Booke has real competitors. If the coding is fine and the time goes into turning a clean ledger into something the client reads, you are shopping for a reporting layer, and swapping Booke for another categorizer will not change that week.
Booke AI pricing and why firms compare it
Booke publishes one figure. The AI Bookkeeper plan for a business is $129 a month per business, billed monthly or annually, and adding a business mid-period creates a prorated charge. The accounting firm tier is priced by request after a call. No trial is listed for either plan. Those facts were read on booke.ai/en-us/pricing on 2 October 2026, and we break the year-one math down in our Booke AI pricing article.
At list price, 20 clients would cost $2,580 a month, which is why firms negotiate the firm tier and also why they look at tools that publish per-client prices. The $20 and $50 per client figures you may see on review sites are not on Booke's pricing page today, so do not build a budget on them.
The other reasons we hear are practical. Booke reaches QuickBooks Online, Xero and Zoho Books but not QuickBooks Desktop, so a firm with Desktop clients needs a second process anyway. And a firm that already pays for close review in another product ends up with two tools reading the same bank feed.
Booke AI competitors sorted by the job they do
For AI categorization and client follow-up, the closest like-for-like option is Double (formerly Keeper). Core is $10 per client a month, Plus $25 adds AI financial summaries and receipts, and Scale $50 adds accruals, allocations, AI journal entries and flux analysis. Plans mix per client and users are unlimited. Read on doublehq.com on 1 October 2026. We break down every tier on our Double HQ pricing page.
For close review rather than categorization, Xenett checks the books for errors before you send anything: AI Financials Review is $7.50 per client a month and Workflow $10, with a 14-day trial (see our Xenett alternative comparison). It reviews the ledger. It does not produce the client statement pack.
For a business that wants the AI to be the ledger, Digits sells an AI-native general ledger at $65 a month on Essentials and $100 on Core, and replaces QuickBooks rather than sitting on it. For receipt and bill capture alone, Dext and Hubdoc remain the standard choices. And QuickBooks Online and Xero both now ship AI categorization suggestions inside the ledger, so check what your clients' existing subscriptions already do before buying anything.
For the reporting half, which none of the tools above finish, the alternative is a reporting layer that reads each client's ledger export and writes the pack. That is what AIStatements does.
What AIStatements produces for each client
At month end, export the trial balance or general ledger from QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Xero or Zoho Books and upload the file. AIStatements maps the accounts, builds the profit and loss statement, the balance sheet and the cash flow statement, and checks that they tie: net income flows to equity and the cash flow ends on the balance sheet cash figure.
Each pack includes gross and net margin, current ratio, days sales outstanding and, for funded companies, burn and runway, with a written paragraph on what moved and why. Lines that look like posting errors are flagged before the client sees them. The output is a PDF and an Excel workbook in about a minute, so a 25-client month becomes a review job instead of a build job.
It does not keep books. It does not categorize transactions, reconcile bank accounts or request receipts, so if that is your bottleneck, keep Booke or pick one of the competitors above. Many firms run both: a categorizer for the ledger and AIStatements for the deliverable. See how firms use it on our financial statement software for accounting firms page.
How a 20-client firm prices the two halves
Take a firm with 20 monthly clients. Categorization through Double Core is $200 a month, or $500 on Plus. Booke at its list price would be $2,580, so the firm tier quote is the number to get in writing. Close review through Xenett adds $150 a month.
The client pack is where the labor sits. If a senior spends 90 minutes per client building statements and commentary in Excel, that is 30 hours a month. AIStatements Firm covers 25 companies for $174 a month billed yearly, or $349 billed monthly, and turns those 30 hours into checking and sending. Price both halves for a year before deciding which tool to change.
| Tool | Job it does | Published price | Builds the client statement pack | Best for |

Common questions
What are the best Booke AI alternatives?
For AI categorization with published per-client prices, Double from $10 per client a month. For close review, Xenett at $7.50 per client. For an AI-native ledger, Digits from $65 a month. For receipt capture, Dext or Hubdoc. For the monthly client statement pack that none of them finish, AIStatements from $24 a month billed yearly.
How much does Booke AI cost?
Booke AI lists $129 per business a month for its AI Bookkeeper plan, billed monthly or annually, with prorated charges when a business is added mid-period. Accounting firms get a white-label tier priced by request. No trial is listed. Read on booke.ai/en-us/pricing on 2 October 2026.
Does Booke AI create financial statements?
Booke lists interactive reports and a performance dashboard, but it is built to categorize and reconcile inside QuickBooks Online, Xero and Zoho Books. The formatted monthly P&L, balance sheet and cash flow with commentary that a client takes to a lender is still built separately, which is the step AIStatements automates.
Does Booke AI work with QuickBooks Desktop?
Booke lists QuickBooks Online, Xero and Zoho Books, not QuickBooks Desktop. A firm with Desktop clients needs a separate process for them. AIStatements reads trial balance and general ledger exports, so Desktop clients get the same statement pack as Online clients.
Can I use Booke AI and AIStatements together?
Yes. Booke codes the transactions in the client ledger. At month end you export that client's trial balance or general ledger and upload it to AIStatements, which builds the tied statements and commentary. Nothing in Booke changes and AIStatements does not write back to the ledger.
Is Booke AI worth it for a small bookkeeping firm?
It can be if your staff lose hours on uncategorized transactions and missing documents and you can get a firm-tier quote well under the $129 list price. If the coding is already under control and the time goes into the monthly client pack, a reporting tool saves more hours per dollar.
