Numeric Accounting Alternative and Numeric Pricing Compared for Teams That Need Monthly Statements
The main Numeric alternatives are FloQast and BlackLine for close management at larger companies, Xenett and Double for close review inside accounting firms, and AIStatements when the close is done and what is missing is the monthly statement pack with written variance commentary. Numeric publishes no prices: every module on numeric.io/pricing, read 9 October 2026, is quoted after a demo, and Vendr reports a median of $15,000 a year. AIStatements builds tied statements from a QuickBooks, Xero, CSV or trial balance export from $24 a month billed yearly.
Numeric runs the close: the checklist, the reconciliations, the flux review. If your close already works and the slow part is the P&L, balance sheet and cash flow you hand to a founder, a board or a lender every month, a close platform is a large purchase for that one job.

What Numeric does and who buys it
Numeric started as close management software for in-house accounting teams and now describes itself as a data platform for finance. Its close product covers a close checklist, account reconciliations, flux analysis with AI-drafted explanations, transaction monitors and review notes. Since a $51 million Series B led by IVP in November 2025 it has added cash management (bank matching and journal entry automation), billing and revenue recognition under ASC 606, and an ERP replacement it calls the Financial Data Platform.
The customers it names are venture-backed companies with real finance teams: Brex, Mercury, Plaid, Asana, ClickUp, Wealthfront and DailyPay among them. Its pricing FAQ says it works with NetSuite, QuickBooks Online, Xero and Sage Intacct, and that many customers add it on top of their existing ERP before replacing it.
That buyer is a controller or VP of finance with a close calendar, three or more accountants and an auditor asking for support. For that team Numeric is a serious product and the per-seat cost is easy to defend. This page is for a different buyer who keeps landing on it: the founder, fractional controller or small finance team whose books close fine in QuickBooks or Xero and whose real deadline is the statement pack.
Numeric pricing and what a contract costs
Numeric does not publish a price. Its pricing page, read on 9 October 2026, lists four modules (ERP Replacement, Close Management and Analytics, Cash Management, Billing and Revenue) and every one ends in Schedule a demo. The FAQ says pricing is built from transaction volume, the number of seats and other business context, and that onboarding and data migration are scoped and disclosed before you sign.
Older reviews quote an Essentials tier at $30 per user per month, and earlier still a free entry tier. Neither appears on the vendor page any more, so treat those figures as history, not as a quote. The best independent number is buyer data: Vendr, updated February 2026, reports a median of $15,000 a year across 48 Numeric purchases, with a range from $4,320 to $41,976.
AIStatements prices by company count, not by seat. Starter is $24 a month billed yearly or $49 month to month for one company, Growth is $59 a month billed yearly or $119 month to month for up to five companies with consolidation and an investor update draft, and Firm is $174 a month billed yearly or $349 month to month for 25 client companies with reviewer sign-off. A year of Growth is $708. The full list is on the pricing page, and where the statement step sits in the close is set out on month-end close software.
Why teams look for a Numeric alternative
The most common reason is size. A close platform pays for itself when several accountants share a checklist of a hundred tasks and an auditor wants every reconciliation signed and dated. A company with one bookkeeper and a fractional CFO does not have that coordination problem. It has a reporting problem: the month is closed by the 8th and the board pack still goes out on the 20th.
The second is the deliverable. Numeric's reporting is built for the finance team itself: custom reports you can pivot and filter, flux analysis on account movements, dashboards from App Studio. It is not a typeset P&L, balance sheet and statement of cash flows with an explanation an owner or an investor can read. Most small teams still build that pack in Excel after the close tool has done its part.
The third is the sales process. Every Numeric route is a demo, an evaluation and a scoped onboarding. A founder who needs statements for a lender by Friday cannot wait for that cycle, and a small team often cannot justify it.
Numeric competitors by the job you need done
If the job is close management for an in-house team, the direct peers are FloQast, BlackLine and Trintech for larger companies, and newer AI close tools such as Truewind, which we cover on Truewind AI alternative. These are bought on a quote, like Numeric, and judged on reconciliation depth and audit support.
If the job is close review across many clients at an accounting firm, Numeric is the wrong shape, since it is designed around one company's close. Firms compare Xenett and Double, priced per client, on Xenett alternative.
If the job is replacing the ledger itself, Numeric's Financial Data Platform competes with NetSuite and with AI-native ERPs such as Campfire, Rillet and DualEntry. Our DualEntry alternative page explains when staying on QuickBooks or Xero is the better call.
If the job is the monthly pack, the peers are reporting tools: Fathom, Syft and Reach Reporting for dashboards, and AIStatements for tied statements with the analysis written out. That is the part a close platform leaves to Excel.
What AIStatements produces after the close
Export the month's trial balance or general ledger from QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Xero, NetSuite or any system that writes a CSV, and upload it. AIStatements builds the profit and loss statement, the balance sheet and the statement of cash flows by the indirect method, and checks that they tie: net income rolls into retained earnings and ending cash on the cash flow matches cash on the balance sheet.
It then writes the variance commentary in plain English, computes gross and net margin, burn, runway, current ratio and days sales outstanding, flags lines that look like posting errors, and exports a PDF and an Excel workbook in about a minute. Growth adds multi-period comparisons, consolidation of up to five entities, a board deck layout and an investor update draft. The deliverable is laid out on monthly financial reporting package.
AIStatements is not a close tool. It does not run a checklist, reconcile accounts, match bank transactions or post journal entries back to the ledger. If your problem is a slow or messy close, that is what Numeric and its peers are for. If the close is fine and the pack is late, the pack is the cheaper thing to fix.
How to decide between Numeric and a reporting layer
Count the hours. If most of the month goes into reconciling, chasing approvals and explaining account swings to an auditor, buy a close platform and get a quote from Numeric and FloQast on the same seat count and transaction volume.
If the books are closed on time and the hours go into formatting statements and writing what changed, run one closed month through AIStatements and compare it with the pack your team built by hand. At $708 a year for Growth against a median Numeric contract of $15,000, the reporting layer is worth testing first, and nothing stops a team from adding a close platform later when it hires its second accountant.

Common questions
What are the best Numeric alternatives?
For close management, FloQast and BlackLine, and AI close tools such as Truewind. For close review across clients at a firm, Xenett and Double. For replacing the ledger, NetSuite or AI-native ERPs such as Rillet and Campfire. For the finished monthly P&L, balance sheet and cash flow with written commentary, AIStatements from $24 a month billed yearly.
How much does Numeric cost?
Numeric does not publish prices. Every module on its pricing page, read 9 October 2026, is quoted after a demo, based on transaction volume and seats. Vendr reports a median contract of $15,000 a year across 48 purchases, ranging from about $4,300 to $42,000. The $30 per user Essentials price quoted in older reviews is no longer listed.
What does Numeric accounting software do?
Numeric is close management and finance automation software. It runs the month-end close checklist, account reconciliations, flux analysis with AI-drafted explanations and transaction monitoring, and now also sells cash matching, billing and revenue recognition, and a full ERP replacement for teams leaving NetSuite.
Does Numeric work with QuickBooks?
Yes. Numeric's pricing FAQ lists NetSuite, QuickBooks Online, Xero and Sage Intacct as supported ERPs. Its customers are mostly venture-backed companies with dedicated finance teams, so check during the demo whether the quote makes sense for a QuickBooks company with one or two people closing the books.
Is Numeric an ERP?
It can be. Numeric began as a close tool that sits on top of your existing ERP, and most customers still use it that way. Its ERP Replacement product, the Financial Data Platform, adds subledgers, reporting and cash management and is positioned as a NetSuite replacement. The modules can be bought separately.
Can I use Numeric and AIStatements together?
Yes. Close the month in Numeric, then export the trial balance or general ledger from your ERP and upload it to AIStatements to produce the tied statements and the written commentary that go to the owner, board or lender. The two tools do different jobs and do not overlap much.
