OnPoint PCR Alternatives for Preparation, Compilation and Review Engagements
The main OnPoint PCR alternatives for a US CPA firm are Caseware Working Papers, CCH Engagement, AuditFile, Thomson Reuters Guided Assurance and Quick Trial Balance Pro for the engagement file, and AIStatements for producing the statements themselves. OnPoint PCR, now called DAS PCR, starts at $499 per user per year billed annually for up to five users, and each user also needs a Caseware Cloud license, read on CPA.com on 24 October 2026. AIStatements turns a trial balance or a QuickBooks, Xero or NetSuite export into a tied P&L, balance sheet and cash flow in about a minute, from $24 a month billed yearly.
OnPoint PCR is now sold by Caseware as DAS PCR. It runs SSARS preparation, compilation and review files in the cloud and is priced per user. If what your firm mostly needs is the finished statements, compare it with a tool that is priced per client company instead.

What OnPoint PCR does and why it is now called DAS PCR
OnPoint PCR was launched in 2018 as a joint effort of CPA.com and Caseware, built around AICPA methodology for the three engagement types under SSARS: preparation (AR-C 70), compilation (AR-C 80) and review (AR-C 90). It runs on Caseware Cloud, not on the desktop Working Papers file that many US firms trained on. Caseware now lists it as DAS PCR (formerly OnPoint PCR), part of its DAS Suite, so you will see both names in proposals, renewal notices and help articles.
The product page, read on 24 October 2026, describes the workflow in five steps: choose the engagement type and industry, import the trial balance from a system or from Excel or CSV, send requests to the client and track responses, clear issues with reviewer tools, then generate the financial statements and deliver the reports. Along the way it adds dynamic checklists that change as the file progresses, ratio calculations linked to the trial balance for analytical review, a short client acceptance document in place of long acceptance checklists, and built-in diagnostics that flag potential issues.
The statement side is the part most firms buy it for. Draft financial statements and note disclosures populate once the trial balance is imported, tailored to the engagement type, with a disclosure library, validations and version control. That is a real strength. A firm that issues reviews, or compilations with full disclosures, gets methodology, checklists and statement drafting in one cloud file.
How much OnPoint PCR costs per user
CPA.com still publishes a price, which is unusual in this category. Its OnPoint PCR page, read on 24 October 2026, says pricing starts at $499 per user per year, billed annually, for firms of up to five users, with discounts available above five users, and adds that a Caseware Cloud license is required for each user. Caseware's own DAS PCR page shows no price at all and ends in Request a Demo.
So the $499 is the floor, not the bill. A five-person firm starts at $2,495 a year for the PCR app before the Caseware Cloud seats, which Caseware sells by quote. When you ask for the quote, get the PCR app, the Cloud license and any other DAS Suite apps on separate lines, with first-year and renewal prices and the annual increase cap in writing. The full per-user math, and how it compares with the other engagement platforms that publish a price, is in our breakdown of OnPoint PCR pricing.
Why US firms look for an OnPoint PCR alternative
The first reason is the seat model. OnPoint PCR is priced per user, and every person who touches the file needs both the PCR license and a Cloud license. For a firm where a partner, a manager and two seasonal staff all open compilation files a few times a year, the per-user cost lands on people who use the product lightly.
The second is the rename and the platform question. Firms that bought OnPoint PCR through CPA.com are now dealing with DAS PCR on Caseware Cloud, alongside Caseware's other cloud apps. Any time a vendor renames a product and folds it into a suite, partners reasonably ask whether the next renewal will be priced as a suite, and that question is the usual trigger for a comparison.
The third, and the one that decides most switches, is the mix of work. Pull last year's engagement list. In many US firms under twenty people, reviews are a handful, and most of the list is compilations that omit substantially all disclosures, preparation engagements and monthly or quarterly management statements for bookkeeping clients. Those engagements need tied, well-presented statements and a correctly worded report or legend. They do not need a disclosure library or review procedures on every file.
OnPoint PCR alternatives that run the whole engagement file
If you want one platform that carries methodology, checklists and the engagement file for prep, comp and review work, the realistic alternatives in the US are five. Caseware Working Papers is the desktop standard many US firms trained on, sold by quote. CCH ProSystem fx Engagement and CCH Axcess Engagement suit firms already on the Wolters Kluwer tax suite. AuditFile is the cloud platform for small and mid-sized firms and publishes its price, $199 and $299 per user per month.
Thomson Reuters is moving PPC SMART Practice Aids customers to Guided Assurance before SMART's December 31, 2026 sunset, which matters if your compilation and review checklists come from PPC; we cover that move on the SMART Practice Aids alternative page. And for a firm that only wants a trial balance program that prints statements with an accountant's report and notes, Quick Trial Balance Pro sells a subscription for the whole office at $459 on its own store.
All of these are compared on price, firm size and statement drafting on our audit software for CPA firms page, which is where to start if the shortlist is still open.
An OnPoint PCR alternative for the statements behind compilations
AIStatements does one part of what OnPoint PCR does, the part that takes the most hours on a routine compilation. You upload an adjusted trial balance as a CSV, or a trial balance or general ledger export from QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite or Sage Intacct, and it returns a formatted income statement, balance sheet and statement of cash flows that tie to each other, with a written read of the period. It flags balances on the unusual side, uncategorized amounts and rows that look entered twice, which are the things you are expected to notice when you read the statements for obvious errors.
It is honest to say what it leaves out. It has no SSARS checklists, no client acceptance or engagement letter workflow, no PBC requests, no disclosure library and no review procedures, and it does not issue your report. The compilation report or the preparation legend is still your firm's document, and a review still needs the analytical procedures and inquiries that a review platform documents.
What changes is how the work is priced. AIStatements is priced by client company, not by user: Starter is $24 a month billed yearly for one company, Growth $59 a month billed yearly for five, and Firm $174 a month billed yearly ($349 month to month) for up to 25 client companies, with a preparer and reviewer workflow and white-label statement packs. The route from ledger to statements is laid out on trial balance to financial statements, and the compilation workflow itself on financial statement compilation software.
How to choose between OnPoint PCR and its alternatives
Count reviews first. If reviews and full-disclosure compilations are a real share of your fee base, a methodology platform earns its seat cost, and OnPoint PCR is a sound choice for a firm that likes working in the cloud. Ask in the demo to see a review file built from your own trial balance, and price the Cloud license next to the $499.
If your firm already lives in Caseware Working Papers or CCH Engagement for audits, keep comp and review work in the same file family unless the renewal says otherwise. Two engagement platforms in one small firm usually cost more in training than they save.
If the list is mostly preparation engagements, compilations that omit disclosures and recurring management statements, price the statement job on its own. Thirty such clients need thirty sets of statements produced accurately every month, quarter or year. Run one client's export through the tool at the top of this page and put the output next to what your current process produces before the next renewal date.

Common questions
What are the best alternatives to OnPoint PCR?
For a full prep, compilation and review engagement file, Caseware Working Papers, CCH ProSystem fx or Axcess Engagement, AuditFile and Thomson Reuters Guided Assurance. For a desktop trial balance program that prints statements with notes, Quick Trial Balance Pro. For firms that mainly need tied statements for compilations and management reporting, AIStatements, priced by client company rather than by user.
How much does OnPoint PCR cost?
CPA.com lists OnPoint PCR from $499 per user per year, billed annually, for firms of up to five users, with discounts above five users, and states that each user also needs a Caseware Cloud license, read 24 October 2026. Caseware's DAS PCR page shows no price and leads to Request a Demo, so the Cloud license comes in the quote.
Is OnPoint PCR the same as DAS PCR?
Yes. Caseware's product page is titled DAS PCR (formerly OnPoint PCR) and describes the same preparation, compilation and review workflow on Caseware Cloud as part of its DAS Suite. Older CPA.com pages, webinars and help articles still use the OnPoint name.
Does OnPoint PCR prepare financial statements?
Yes. Draft financial statements and note disclosures populate after the trial balance is imported, tailored to the engagement type, with a disclosure library, validations and version control. It sits inside the engagement file, alongside checklists, client requests and reviewer tools.
Can AIStatements replace OnPoint PCR?
Not for reviews or for files that need SSARS checklists, client acceptance, PBC requests and a disclosure library. It replaces the statement production step: upload a trial balance or a QuickBooks, Xero or NetSuite export and get a tied P&L, balance sheet and cash flow with written analysis, which suits compilations that omit disclosures, preparation engagements and monthly management statements.
Is there an OnPoint PCR free trial?
No trial is offered on the CPA.com or Caseware pages read 24 October 2026; both lead to a demo or a purchase through Caseware Cloud. AuditFile offers a 14-day trial, and AIStatements runs a one-time demo on your own trial balance from the tool at the top of this page.
